The name is Shelly Bhushan. I'm a singer/songwriter, but not "that kind" of singer songwriter. I mean, I do brood on occasion, but that's because I'm "deep". I also have an acoustic guitar that I play alone on occasion, but thankfully I have a kick-ass band that helps me "shut it down": John Celentano (Drums), Harry Cordew (Bass) and Ben Hoffstein (Keys).

I like to define my sound as "AltSoul", some say "Indie Soul"...my producer called it "New Wave Soul". But I think you get the point. And who needs genres or classifications anyway? I've been genre bending forever and I like it that way. It keeps things interesting.

There are a few more things that you should know:

1. I'm a legit singer - no auto-tune.
2. If you like soulful stuff, then this is probably going to be your thing.
3. I'm melodic. Sorry, that's just the way it's gotta be.
4. Lyrics are important to me. I write about reality, so if you are a real person, you'll probably find something you relate to. If you're not a real person,well....

What else do you need to know...well, I'm based in NYC. My favorite color is fuchsia, but I always choose blue. And at this point in this essay I'm old enough to know that telling you anything more is probably not that important.
